SUPERBREAK MOVES TO NEW OFFICES IN YORK
25 June 2008
Superbreak Mini-Holidays, the leading provider of UK & European short breaks, has taken its own trip and moved to newly built premises by The Helmsley Group at Heworth Green, York, as part of its continued plans for expansion and job creation.
Previously located at Ryedale House in Piccadilly in York city centre, Superbreak employs 250 staff with plans to expand its workforce by 20 per cent in the next five years.
The company has moved into 20,000sq ft office space within the newly completed 60,000sq ft mixed-use Heworth Green development - one of the most significant and sustainable office developments in York. York-based property development and investment company The Helmsley Group is behind the £12 million scheme, which boasts some of the largest floor plates in the city.
DTZ completed the lease acquisition on behalf of Superbreak, which is one of the largest office lettings in recent times in York.
Mark Wray, Joint Managing Director of Superbreak Mini-Holidays, commented: “Moving to Heworth Green demonstrates our long term commitment to remain an integral part of the York business community. The new premises have given our existing staff a huge boost as a result of the much improved office environment, and will also help to attract new staff as we continue to expand our business.”
Whilst providing breaks for in excess of 1.75 million customers per annum, Superbreak also generates significant business for York and the wider Yorkshire region, bringing over 30,000 visitors to the City of York alone per annum. It is part of £150 million turnover Holidaybreak plc, which counts camping holiday company Eurocamp and Explore! the Adventure holiday specialist amongst its portfolio.
Richard Peak, Director at The Helmsley Group said: “The Heworth Green development is one of the highest specification office developments in York, which has proved popular with occupiers. Hunters Property Group has taken 20,000sq ft and we are in final stages of negotiations with another York business looking to take the remaining office space.”
Phillip Dawson, associate director at DTZ, comments: “This letting represents a significant commitment by Superbreak to York that will enable it to build its business in a fantastic office environment. York's city centre office market remains tight due to restricted supply and planning restrictions. However, with an increase in developments such as Heworth Green, occupiers in York are now getting an improved choice of Grade A offices.”
Ian Harrington, director at DTZ, comments: “As The Helmsley Group completed the tenants fit out works during construction, Superbreak has benefited from reduced cost and time to occupy the building. DTZ's project monitoring role has ensured that Superbreak has taken delivery of a high class office product on time and at a cost in the region of 20% less than the traditional fit out approach.”
