SUPERBREAK PACKS ITS BAGS

SUPERBREAK PACKS ITS BAGS

15 November 2006

Superbreak Mini-Holidays, the leading provider of UK & European short breaks, will be packing its bags and moving into new premises at Heworth Green, York, as part of its continued plans for expansion. Superbreak is part of Holidaybreak plc, which counts camping holiday company Eurocamp and Explore! the Adventure holiday specialist amongst its portfolio. It has taken 20,000sq ft office space within the planned 60,000sq ft mixed-use development by The Helmsley Group at Heworth Green. Whilst providing breaks for in excess of 1.75 million customers per annum, Superbreak also generates significant business for York and the wider Yorkshire region, bringing over 30,000 visitors to the City of York alone per annum. Currently located at the Ryedale Building at Piccadilly in York city centre, the business is set to move premises by Christmas 2007. Mark Wray, Joint Managing Director, commented: "We are delighted to be moving to new office premises being built by The Helmsley Group at Heworth Green. It was important for us to remain located close to the city centre to allow our 250 full and part time staff the widest choice of transport links to their place of work. The new larger offices will also allow our business to build on its historic success and to continue to offer a wide range of employment opportunities to the local population." Councillor Steve Galloway said: "We are delighted to see a York based company like Superbreak expanding into new premises in the City. It demonstrates the underlying strengths of the York economy and will help to counter some of the pessimism that recent announcements may have generated. I wish Superbreak every success in the future." Helmsley director Richard Peak said: "The site at Heworth Green is proving extremely popular even before a brick has been laid. Just 10,000sq ft remain to let as Hunters Property Group has taken 20,000sq ft and we are in final negotiations with a GP surgery and pharmacy which is looking to take 10,000sq ft." "This will be one of the highest specification office developments in York as it will comply with the very latest Building Regulations, which are about to be introduced. This includes Part L, which covers thermal efficiency. We will be using a panelling system rather than traditional brick and block, which is one of the very latest building techniques and is an off-site construction method for greater precision, quality and speed of construction. Unusually for York, this site features on-site car parking, most of which is in the basement for added security and minimal visual impact." The Helmsley Group has teamed up with York housebuilder Persimmon to create an imaginative mixed-use scheme, which will revitalise and regenerate the four-acre site in Heworth Green, which will include 170 new apartments and offices close to the heart of the city.
